The Trauma Nurse Practitioner (TNP) is an Advanced Practice Nurse delivering individualized comprehensive nursing care to patients and their families with attention to physical assessments, preventative health care, education and medical management of acute and chronic illnesses. Nurse Practitioners in Neurosurgery will work with Surgeons and Physician Assistants in the evaluation of new patients, as well as care of the patient having Neurosurgery. The position will also involve training and responsibilities for procedures including but not limited to fiducial placements, placement of ventriculostomy, arterial lines and central lines. The PA and NP in the Neurosurgery service line are “first responders” to ED admissions, consults, and calls regarding Neurosurgery issues.

The NP will also participate in multidisciplinary rounds, quality meetings and research initiatives.
