Position Summary
The Certified First Assistant in Surgery (CFA) provides assistance to the surgeon or group of surgeons during an operative procedure as a first or second assistant providing aid in exposure, hemostasis, and other technical functions that will help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Be a graduate of a one or two year program of Surgical Technology with certification as a CST by the Association of Surgical Technologists and Hold certification as a Certified First Assistant by the Association of Surgical Technologists
CPR certification
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE
Understanding of the procedure being performed, anticipate surgeons¿ needs and have necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during operative procedure while monitoring sterile field. Provide aid in exposure, hemostasis, and other technical functions including but not limited to, positioning of the patient, suturing and closing closure of body planes and skin, and application of would dressings that will help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient.

A minimum of two years as a Surgical Technician

Certified First Assistant position. Prefer a candidate with orthopedic experience. Schedule will be M-F 6:00am-5:30pm with call stay (no weekends or holidays)
