Position Summary

This position is responsible for identifying and coordinating patient/family care needs to provide palliative and supportive care to the terminally ill and their families. He/She utilizes teaching, assessment and intervention skills to maximize quality of life to patient and family in all settings of hospice care. This position directs the work of home hospice aides/homemakers and/or patient care volunteers and is responsible for promoting the hospice philosophy within the organization and community. The hospice registered nurse is committed to the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the hospice concept.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; current license from State of Ohio, current valid driver's license, and must have own transportation.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE
Excellent nursing process skills; well-developed communication skills; basic knowledge of family systems/dynamics, flexibility.

KIND and LENGTH of EXPERIENCE
3-5 yrs prior medical/surgical nursing experience or equivalent; home health nursing facility experience.
