Position Summary
This position submits billings to the appropriate party and follows-up for adjudication and payment of individual claims. He/She communicates with patients, third party payors, guarantors, family members, medical staff and other hospital departments on status of individual claims in order to manage accounts receivable.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Graduate. Knowledge of PC and medial terminology. 1 yr claims processing and/or claims follow-up experience.
DESIREABLE QUALIFICATIONS
2 yrs college. 2 yrs claims processing and claims follow-up in a hospital setting. Previous Medicare, Medicaid, Bureau Workers' Compensation, and Managed Care claims experience. Knowledge of Medicare, BWC, Medicaid, hospital contracts, managed care contract specifics (i.e. short stay maternity clauses, prosthetic & orthotic device clauses, etc.) and other third party payor regulations and fair debt practice rules and regulations. Knowledge of electronic billing process and ability to do quality/quantity CRT data entry. Accounts receivable systems knowledge of several software products. (HBO/STAR, QMS, Medical Processing Electronic Billing System, CompLink (Workers Comp System), Medicare Claims System, and other systems in the hospital.
